Cookie policy

Three categories, one of which you cannot switch off because the site stops working without it. The other two are off until you turn them on.

A cookie is a small file this website asks your browser to keep, so that the next page knows something the last one did. Some of them are necessary. Most of the ones you meet elsewhere are not, and we have kept the list here short on purpose.

Last reviewed: March 2026.

1. Your choice, and how to change it

The first time you arrive you get a banner with three buttons: Accept all, Reject all and Cookie settings. Rejecting all is a real option and nothing on this site is withheld from you for choosing it.

To change your mind later, use the Cookies button in the bottom right corner of any page. It reopens the same panel with your current choices ticked, and saving overwrites what was there before.

2. Essential cookies — always on

These make the site work. There is no consent option because without them there is nothing to consent to.

wv_age_okLocal storageRemembers that you confirmed you are twenty or over, so the age screen does not appear on every page. Stays until you clear your browser storage.
wv_cookie_consentLocal storageRemembers which categories you accepted, so the banner does not ask again. Stays until you clear your browser storage or change your choices.
PHPSESSIDSessionStandard server session cookie, used to keep a form submission attached to the right visitor. Deleted when you close the browser.

3. Analytics cookies — off unless you switch them on

If you accept these, we count visits: which pages are read, for how long, roughly where in the world from, and which page people leave from. The reports we see are aggregated. We use them to work out which parts of this site are not answering the question people came with.

Analytics identifier13 monthsDistinguishes one browser from another so a return visit is not counted twice. IP addresses are truncated before storage.
Session identifier30 minutesGroups the pages of one visit together.

If you reject this category, none of it is set and nothing about your visit is recorded beyond the ordinary server log described in the privacy policy.

4. Marketing cookies — off unless you switch them on

These measure whether an advertisement led to an enquiry. They are set by the advertising platform, not by us, and if you accept them that platform may recognise your browser on other sites.

Advertising identifierUp to 13 monthsAttributes an enquiry to the campaign that produced it.
Conversion cookie90 daysRecords that an enquiry form was completed after an advertisement was clicked.

We do not use these to advertise gambling, and no advertising we run is targeted at anyone under twenty.

5. What we do not do

  • No cookies are set before you answer the banner, apart from the essential ones listed above.
  • No social media tracking pixels, on any page.
  • No embedded third-party video or map that loads a tracker before you ask for it. The map link on the contact page opens in a new window, at your choice.
  • No sale or sharing of cookie data with data brokers.
  • No behavioural advertising related to gambling.

6. Controlling cookies in your browser

Every browser can block or delete cookies without any help from us. In Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari it is under settings, then privacy. Blocking everything will stop the age confirmation being remembered, so the age screen will appear each time you arrive.

7. Questions

Write to [email protected] and a person will answer. How cookie data is handled once collected is covered by our privacy policy, written under the Privacy Act 2020.
