A date, a head count, a format and a budget. With those four we can tell you inside a working day which room fits, what it costs and whether the bedrooms are there for the night before.
From the first enquiry to the day itself the contact is one person: the events manager, who writes the running sheet, holds the rooms and stands in the building on the day. There is no separate booking desk to be handed to.
Catering comes from Cecil & Walter in the same building, which means the kitchen is forty metres from the room and nothing arrives by van. Audio-visual is ours: screens, sound, lectern, and a technician on call for the length of the booking.

All three rooms have controllable lighting, a hearing loop, power at floor level, and wired internet as well as wireless. The Steamer Hall divides into two with an acoustic wall for a conference that needs a break-out room.

The Steamer Hall seats 96 for dinner and 130 standing. Ceremonies are held on the lake terrace from October to April and in the hall itself the rest of the year. The terrace holds 80 seated and has a wet-weather plan that does not involve moving anyone more than twenty metres.
We take one wedding a day and no more. The hall is yours from 9am on the day, the kitchen writes the menu with you six weeks out, and the running sheet is signed off a fortnight before.
Twelve bedrooms are held for a wedding party at the group rate until eight weeks before the date. The Steamer Hall has a licence until 1am, and the bar stops serving thirty minutes before that.
From the first enquiry to the day
- Day one. You send the form or phone. We reply with the room that fits, a hold on the date for ten days, and a price.
- Site visit. Half an hour in the building, usually mid-morning. We walk the room set the way you plan to use it.
- Confirmation. A 25% deposit confirms the date. The balance is due seven days after the event.
- Six weeks out. Menu, drinks, floor plan and bedroom list.
- Two weeks out. Final numbers, running sheet, technical check.
- On the day. The events manager is in the building from set-up to the last guest.
